Short answers about magyk, share links, privacy, and coding agents.
So… what is magyk?
magyk is a Chrome extension for bug reporting. Capture a screenshot or recording with DevTools context (console, network, actions, environment), then share one link that has the whole story.
How do I actually use it?
Install the extension, sign in, and capture from the page where the bug happens. Annotate if you want, create a share link, and send it to a teammate or paste it into a coding agent. For agents, connect magyk MCP and call triage first.
How is this different from a screenshot or Loom?
A plain screenshot or video usually leaves out the console, network failures, and what the reporter clicked. magyk packages the media with that DevTools context so the person fixing the bug does not have to recreate it.
What gets captured?
Screenshots or screen recordings, optional title and description, and browser context you choose to include: console logs, network requests, user actions, page metadata, and environment details. For recordings with the mic on, spoken narration can become a transcript and an optional AI brief.
Do share links expire?
Share links expire after 48 hours by default. After expiry, the full media and capture payload are removed from active storage. A small thumbnail and list metadata may remain in your account dashboard.
What about my data?
You decide what to capture and who gets the link. Anyone with the link can view the capture until it expires. We use providers like Supabase, Vercel, PostHog, and Google Gemini (for optional speech-to-text and briefs). Details live in our Privacy Policy.
Does it connect to Claude or Cursor?
Yes. magyk exposes an MCP server so coding agents can load a capture from a share link: brief, transcript, console, network, actions, and media. Set it up on the MCP page, then paste a magyk.app/c/… link in chat.
What is the AI brief?
For recordings with microphone narration, we can transcribe what you said and summarize it into a short debug brief on the share page. The brief is based on the transcript and optional title/description, not a full DevTools dump. Console and network stay available separately for agents and the share UI.
What does it cost?
magyk is free to use while we are early. Install from the Chrome Web Store and create share links with your account.
Who is behind magyk?
magyk is built for engineers, QA, and product teams who are tired of incomplete bug reports. Questions: chandra@magyk.app.
