Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how magyk (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use our Chrome extension, website at magyk.app, recording links, and related share links.

What we offer

magyk helps you capture screenshots or recordings with browser DevTools context (such as console, network, and environment details) and share them as a single link. You can also create a recording link so someone records their screen in the browser without installing the extension, or capture a click-through guide. Share links stay until you delete them.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use magyk, we may process:

• Account information: such as your email address and authentication identifiers when you sign in (for example via Google / Chrome identity flows connected to our auth provider).
• Capture content you create or receive: screenshots, recordings, titles, descriptions, annotations, associated DevTools context you choose to capture and upload, screen recordings submitted through a recording link you share, and (for recordings with microphone audio) spoken narration used to generate an optional AI debug brief on the share page.
• Technical and usage data: approximate device/browser information, pages on our site you visit, and product events that help us understand whether magyk is working (for example page views or button clicks).
• Share-link metadata: identifiers needed to serve a public capture page, and basic request logs required to operate the service.

How we use information

• Provide, secure, and improve the extension, share host, and account features
• Authenticate you and associate captures with your account when applicable
• Host share links and enforce deletion rules
• Generate optional AI debug briefs from recording narration (speech-to-text and summary) when that feature is enabled
• Monitor reliability, abuse, and product performance
• Communicate about the service when needed (for example security or operational notices)

Sharing and processors

We do not sell your personal information. We use infrastructure and analytics providers to run magyk, including:

• Supabase: authentication, database, and file storage for captures
• Vercel: hosting for magyk.app and related APIs
• PostHog: product analytics (EU hosting when configured)
• Google (Gemini): speech-to-text and AI brief generation for captures when AI summaries are enabled. Spoken audio and transcript text may be sent to Google to produce the brief shown on the share page

These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and safeguards. Anyone with a share link can view the capture contents until you delete it. Anyone with a recording link can submit one screen recording to the workspace of the person who created that link.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our site and analytics tools may use cookies or local storage for authentication, session continuity, and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect sign-in or product features.

Data retention

Share links stay until you delete them. Free workspaces can keep 10 live links (captures, guides, and recording links combined). When you delete a capture, we delete the full screenshot or recording from our storage and remove the capture payload (including DevTools context, transcripts, and AI briefs) from active databases. Account records, security logs, and backups may be retained for longer where needed to operate, secure, or comply with legal obligations.

International transfers

magyk is shipped from Europe. Depending on where you are and which providers we use, information may be processed in the EU and other countries. We take steps appropriate to the service to protect information during transfer.

Your choices

• Decide what to capture and who receives a share link or recording link
• Sign out or request account-related deletion where available
• Contact us to ask questions or request access/deletion where applicable law allows

Children

magyk is intended for professional / adult use in software teams. It is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes. We will revise the “Last updated” date on this page when we do.
