Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of magyk, including our Chrome extension, website at magyk.app, APIs, and share links (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

The Service

magyk lets you capture screenshots or recordings with DevTools context and share them as a link. Features may change, and share links expire after 48 hours by default. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time.

Accounts and eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract and use the Service only in compliance with applicable law. If you create or use an account, you are responsible for activity under that account and for keeping credentials secure.

Your content

You retain ownership of content you capture and upload (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited license to host, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service (for example storing media, rendering share pages, and enforcing expiry).

You are responsible for Your Content and for who you share links with. Do not upload or share unlawful, harmful, or infringing material, or content you do not have rights to share (including secrets, personal data of others without a lawful basis, or third-party confidential information).

Share links

Share links may be accessible to anyone who has the URL until they expire or are deleted. Treat links like secrets if the capture is sensitive. We are not responsible for onward sharing by recipients.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Abuse, overload, reverse engineer, or disrupt the Service
• Attempt unauthorized access to accounts, captures, or infrastructure
• Use the Service to violate law, privacy, or others’ rights
• Misrepresent your identity or the source of a capture
• Scrape or automate access in ways that harm the Service or other users

Chrome extension and third-party services

The extension runs in your browser and may request permissions needed to capture tabs and DevTools context. Use of Chrome, Google identity, Supabase, Vercel, PostHog, and other third-party services is also subject to those providers’ terms.

Intellectual property

The Service, including branding, software, and documentation (excluding Your Content), is owned by magyk or its licensors. These Terms do not grant you rights to our trademarks or source code beyond what is needed to use the Service.

Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, perfect capture fidelity, or that share links will remain available beyond stated expiry behavior.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, magyk and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) €50.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify magyk against claims arising from Your Content or your misuse of the Service, to the extent permitted by law.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if needed to protect the Service or others. Provisions that by nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, and limitations) will survive termination.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence say otherwise. Courts in Berlin, Germany shall have jurisdiction, subject to those mandatory protections.

Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
